Information about DILVAS 2.5MG

Description:

DILVAS 2.5MG is made of Enalapril that relates to the group of medicines that are called Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. It is used in treating high blood pressure (e.g-hypertension). It may also be used in treating and preventing heart-failure. Heart failure is a chronic condition in which the heart cannot pump an adequate amount of blood-properly, and occurs- shortness of breath, swelling of ankles and feet or tiredness after mild physical activities like- walking.

Uses / Indications:

Treats high blood pressure & Treats and prevents heart-failure.

Interactions / Warnings:

Some interactions occur from person to person differently, so before taking this medicine. Always take suggestions from your doctor or physician and take it only as prescribed.

Side Effects:

SERIOUS: Allergic reaction (e.g-such as skin rashes, red or peeling of the skin, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat and difficulty in breathing or swallowing etc). Swelling of the hands, ankles or feet. Tinnitus (e.g-ringing in the ears). Bone marrow depression (e.g-low blood cell count). Jaundice (e.g-yellowing of skin and eyes). Heart attacks or strokes. COMMON: Dizziness or fainting, Feeling sick (e.g-nausea), Blurred-vision, Cough, Diarrhea or abdominal pain, Headache, Low blood pressure, irregular heart-beat, chest-pain, Weakness or fatigue, Depression, Change in taste, Shortness of breath. RARE: Raynaud’s phenomenon (e.g-hands and feet may become very cold and pale). Autoimmune diseases. Sleep problems. Accumulation of fluid in the lungs. Inflammation of nose. Pneumonia (e.g-inflammation of lungs leading to difficulty in breathing).

How to use:

Take DILVAS 2.5MG as suggested by your doctor or physician. It should be taken with or without food or meal. Swallow the whole medicine with a sip of water. Do not bite, crush or chew the medicine.

How it works:

Enalapril is a potent ACE inhibitor which inhibits the action of the enzyme that is called Angiotensin-converting enzyme, an enzyme that is responsible for conversion of Angiotensin-I to Angiotensin-II in the RAAS system. Angiotensin-II is a potent vasoconstrictor which leads to increase in the blood pressure and other types of heart problems. Inhibition of ACE enzyme by enalapril, inhibits the production of Angiotensin-II, leads to widening of the blood vessels and reduction of the blood pressure. It also increases the supply system of oxygen and also blood to the heart which decreases the risk of heart-failure.
